WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. Popular FDMC columnist Gene Wengert, aka “The Wood Doctor,” will make a house call during the Wood Pro Conference.
Wengert, a renowned expert on all things wood, will present, The Wood Doctor is in, on June 8 at the Palm Beach County Convention Center. He will offer his prescriptions for resolving some of the industry’s most common, costly and yet preventable wood problems. This includes issues such as open glue joints, blotchy finishes and low lumber yield to name a few.
Wengert also plans to address the added stress the coronavirus pandemic has had on the lumber market, including erratic supplies, price spikes and impact on just-in-time inventories.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Early-bird discount registration is now open for the 2021 Closets Conference & Expo and Wood Pro Expo Florida (WPE). The co-located events take place June 8-10 at the Palm Beach County Convention Center.
Loaded with how-to education, design inspiration, a well-rounded variety of woodworking machinery and supplies and plentiful networking opportunities, the double-barreled-event will help usher in a return to face-to-face events. According to responses shared in the Cabinet Makers Association 2020 Benchmark Survey, some of us are still standing on the edge, wondering what our next step will be, while others feel that they have successfully weathered the current pandemic environment by being able to quickly adapt to the challenges it presents.
Demographics
The CMA’s annual survey is conducted in collaboration with Woodworking Network, and the entire industry (not only CMA members) is invited to participate. Less than half of the respondents were CMA members; interestingly, though, the collective profile of the respondents matches that of a typical member.
The first survey question qualifies the respondents by their role in the company. To proceed with the rest of the survey, “owner, officer, or senior management” or “all of the above” (since small shop owners wear many hats) must be selected.
