OKLAHOMA CITY -
New information has been released on Oklahoma City s homeless population thanks to a temporary shelter that opened over the winter.
Housed in the former Willard School building, the shelter that opened on January 15th provided beds for more than 1,100 people before closing last week.
During that historic cold stretch around Valentine s Day, there were more than 250 people inside on a single night.
Put together by the Homeless Alliance, the Mental Health Association of Oklahoma and the City of OKC, organizers say this shelter saved lives during that cold snap.
However, it ultimately points to a larger need in the community when it comes to resources for the homeless.
