Is your child on the autism spectrum? Imani.Consulting.Tobago@gmail.com A couple weeks ago we celebrated World Down Syndrome Day with our colourful, mismatched socks. On April 2 many of us also commemorated World Autism Awareness Day. I’ve noticed, though, that many people don’t know the difference between autism and Down syndrome, and many parents need guidance on how to determine if their child has autism and, of course, the next steps. In this article, I use information gathered from the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) and the American Psychiatric Association to answer some of your most pressing questions.

Vona s Restaurant Sponsors Out Run Autism 5K – Oswego County Today

Pictured are Elizabeth Haight, Sammy Haight and David Haight of Vona’s. OSWEGO The 6th Annual “Out Run Autism” 5K will return live on May 1 to benefit the Oswego County Autism Task Force. Once again Vona’s Restaurant has been named top sponsor of the event that will begin at 8:30 a.m. on May 1 in front of the Press Box in Oswego. “We are very grateful to have the continued support from the generous Vona family,” said Oswego County Autism Task Force President Tammy Thompson. The run/walk will take participants through Oswego’s East side, scenic Fort Ontario area on Saturday, May 1. This year’s 5k will have a live “in person” option as well as a “virtual” option to participate and support the cause.

Torfaen Play Service holds Easter play sessions for children

The play activities delivered at the camps focused on the five ways to wellbeing which encourage children to: Connect, Give, Take Notice, Keep Learning and Be Active. The six Play and Wellbeing camps were held at Blaenavon Heritage School, George Street Primary, Nant Celyn Primary, Garnteg Primary, Blenheim Community Primary and Llantarnam Community Primary. Pupils were identified to attend the provisions through working in partnership with headteachers, social care and the Inclusion Team. Playworker Justin Johnson said: “We thoroughly enjoy delivering the Play and Wellbeing Sessions to the children on the camps. The children get so much out of it.
