Restaurant owned by Bob Slicker offers eclectic menu, craft beer, cocktails
A new restaurant has opened in Cortez, featuring a familiar name and space for those who know the Manatee County fishing village s dining scene.
Slicker s Eatery is now open at 12012 Cortez Road W. in the former space of O Shucks Raw Bar & Grill and most recently Pig Out BBQ, which still has another location open on Manatee Avenue West. The new business is owned by Bob Slicker, who has worked at several restaurants over the years, including as general manager of Cortez s Swordfish Grill.

The Parrot X-Press Grill opens in Sarasota
The Parrot X-Press Grill has opened at 2407 Bee Ridge Road in the former space of Smacks Burgers & Shakes, which closed in September. The new business is owned by Jeff and Melanie Gambino, who also own The Parrot Patio Bar & Grill restaurants in Sarasota and Bradenton on State Road 70 near Interstate 75.
“We’re super excited about it,” Jeff Gambino said about the new concept. “It’s got that great Parrot vibe to it, inside and out, and we’ve heard a lot of positive response from the general public, both at our other locations as well as just stopping by here.”
Restaurant News: Tenth Street Coffee opening in Palmetto
The coffee shop features a wide selection of drinks and a breakfast and lunch menu.
A new coffee shop will take the place of a previously existing one in Palmetto, offering an extensive food and drink menu with references to its Manatee County home.
Tenth Street Coffee is set to hold its grand opening on Monday, Feb. 1, at 1810 10th St. W., in the former space of Coffee Beyond the Borders. The new business is affiliated with Palmetto’s Church on the Rock, but Senior Pastor Tad Mathews said the coffee shop will cater to all customers, with the phrase “where everyone has a seat at the table” displayed on a wall.
