(WWSB) - Several houses in Bradenton were severely damaged by a tornado Saturday, the National Weather Service confirmed Monday afternoon. The National Weather Service says Saturday’s storms did produce an EF-1 tornado. This tornado traveled just over half a mile through the IMG Golf Course and the surrounding neighborhoods. NWS estimates the wind to have peaked at 95 MPH and the estimated width is about 50 yards. The tornado touched down around 5:45 p.m. on Saturday, April 10.

Wednesday night, a dive team and an underwater submersible went inside the pond, hoping to find a way to plug the leaks. But the team is only able to work on one of the several ponds at Piney Point. In the long-term, Manatee County wants to get rid of all that water. Tuesday, commissioners approved a deep well injection site that will be fast-tracked through the DEP.

Engineers find no evidence of second breach in Florida wastewater pond that threatens to break Officials said Monday there is no second breach in a Florida wastewater reservoir containment wall that is in danger of collapsing, according to the state’s Department of Environmental Protection. Earlier Monday, an infrared drone detected a possible second breach in the containment wall of the Piney Point wastewater pond, officials said creating what the governor has called a “real catastrophic flood situation.” But the Florida DEP said in an afternoon update the technical working group that includes engineers and dam safety specialists from a host of different state, federal and other third-party groups determined the site was safe for continued work.
