PARKERSBURG A man was found dead inside an apartment that burned early Tuesday morning.
Firefighters were dispatched at 4:05 a.m. to a report of a smoke alarm at a one-bedroom apartment with someone inside at 2007 Nash St., a Parkersburg Housing Authority location, Parkersburg Fire Chief Jason Matthews said.
They arrived at the scene four minutes later and focused first on rescue efforts, he said.
“When they got inside, the male victim was already deceased,” Matthews said.
Because the apartment’s doors and windows were shut, there was heavy smoke but minimal fire, he said. The fire was extinguished in about 10 minutes, the chief said.
