DawnNewsTV ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet on Tuesday formed an inquiry committee to be headed by a former judge of the Supreme Court or high court with the task to investigate in 45 days the “fresh revelations” in a verdict of a British court in the UK-based asset recovery firm Broadsheet LLC case and fix the responsibility on those Pakistanis who, according to the firm, had illegally benefited themselves and laundered money to off-shore banks. “The committee would comprise one representative each of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Attorney General for Pakistan, besides a senior advocate to be nominated by the prime minister,” said Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Shibli Faraz, who was accompanied by Minister for Science and Technology Chaudhry Fawad Hussain and Minister for Human Rights Dr Shireen Mazari, in a press conferen

HR Ministry demands UN to probe extrajudicial killings of 11 Pakistani Hindus by India December 22, 2020 Minister for Human Rights Dr Shireen Mazari has demanded United Nations to probe the extrajudicial killings of 11 Pakistani Hindus by India and ensure payment of reparations to families of the deceased. In a letter written to UN High Commissioner, she said the extrajudicial executions by Indian security forces in Manipur, have not been fully investigated, and the state of India has failed to fulfil its obligation to carry out a prompt, thorough and effective investigation which is  a clear breach to the Vienna Convention. The Minister in the letter demanded the constitution of an investigation team, under the auspices of the UN and urged India to allow the team for conducting a free, fair and impartial investigation into the matter and handing over of the dead bodies of deceased to family members.                 

Computer lab inaugurated

Computer lab inaugurated December 12, 2020 Islamabad : Minister for Human Rights Dr Shireen Mazari on Thursday inaugurated a new computer lab at the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Centre for Women. The inauguration was part of an event organised by the Ministry of Human Rights in collaboration with UN Women to commemorate Human Rights Day and mark the end to 16 Days of Activism Campaign against Gender-Based Violence. The theme for the event was “Strengthening Access to Justice for Survivors.” Speaking on this occasion, Dr Shireen Mazari briefed the participants about the three areas of focus of the Ministry of Human Rights i.e. on overcoming gaps in legislation, strengthening implementation, and increasing awareness about human rights.
