Islamabad, Apr 20 (PTI) Unidentified gunmen shot a senior Pakistani journalist on Tuesday while he was taking a walk near his house in Islamabad.
Absar Alam, who also served as a chairman of Pakistan Electronic Media Authority (PEMRA), the country’s electronic media watchdog, was rushed to a hospital where he was out of danger.
Alam confirmed the attack in a video message uploaded on Twitter. I ve been hit in my ribs, he said, adding that he had not lost hope. My message to those who did this is that I am not going to be scared by such tactics, Alam said.

Karachi [Pakistan], April 19 (ANI): Women journalists across Pakistan have slammed Prime Minister Imran Khan for his remarks that women s dress code is the real reason or motive for rape.
According to Dawn, an online conference titled From Attire to Desire , organised by Uks Research Centre here on Saturday had several women journalists, writers and academics of the country share their views on the issue of women s dress code and whether it is the real reason or motive for rape.
Senior journalist Nasim Zehra said that blaming the dress code for something as heinous as rape weakens the victim. It puts the blame on the victim, and empowers the perpetrator, she said as quoted by Dawn.

ISLAMABAD: The panel of constitutional experts and human rights practitioners urged the government to prioritise tabling the Bill against torture that has long been pending after the country had signed and ratified the UN Convention against Torture in 2008.
They said the present government’s promise is yet to see the light. Speaking at the condolence reference here on Saturday, the participants from different walks of life paid rich tribute to I.A.
