In an effort to educate Angelenos during Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, Metro today encouraged riders to be on the lookout for potential victims of human trafficking on public transit.
Texas First Lady Cecilia Abbott has announced that the Governor s Response Against Child Exploitation (GRACE) initiative will host a statewide interfaith Week of Prayer to End Human Trafficking on January 11 through January 17, 2021. The week of prayer coincides with Human Trafficking Prevention Month in the state of Texas and serves as a call to action to the faith-based community to unite in prayer, learn more about human trafficking, and discern opportunities to prevent exploitation and support survivors.
GRACE will launch the Week of Prayer to End Human Trafficking through a virtual interfaith event on January 11th at 6pm on Facebook. The event will include remarks from state officials, prayer, and a panel discussion of faith leaders and members of the Office of the Governor s Child Sex Trafficking Team (CSTT).
Distributors Against Human Trafficking aims to educate America’s more than 140,000 beer distribution employees about how to identify, report signs of human trafficking
ALEXANDRIA, Va. – The National Beer Wholesalers Association (NBWA) announced during National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month that the Distributors Against Human Trafficking initiative has trained 6,000 beer distribution employees to safely spot and report the signs of human trafficking. NBWA is well on its way to reaching its goal of training 10,000 employees by the end of 2021. “When we began the Distributors Against Human Trafficking initiative in July 2020, distributors were eager to get involved,”
said Craig Purser, NBWA president and CEO. “These local business leaders instantly recognized the fight against human trafficking as one where they could play a valuable role.”
Solano to apply for grant to help Fairfield affordable housing project
FAIRFIELD Solano County supervisors authorized submission of a grant application Tuesday for $5.6 million from the No Place Like Home program.
This is the third round of funding and is in collaboration with EAH Housing and Fairfield for the development of a 67-unit affordable housing project, including 20 units of permanent supportive housing.
The location of the project would be 212 E. Tabor Ave. in Fairfield
“The No Place Like Home program dedicates up to $2 billion in bond proceeds to invest in the development of permanent supportive housing for people in need of mental health services and who are either experiencing homelessness, are chronically homeless, or at risk of chronic homelessness,” the staff report to the board states.
