On 27 April 2021, the Council of Europe participated as a leading speaker in the on-line conference, âSupporting the implementation of the Istanbul Convention in Romaniaâ held in support of a project focused on combating violence against women under the EEA/Norway GrantsRomania Justice programme. The conference featured addresses by LuminiÈa Popescu, the State Secretary of the National Agency for Equal Opportunities for Women and Men (ANES), as well as Alina Pop, the State Secretary of the Romanian Labour and Social Protection Ministry. Lene Nilsen from the Norwegian Ministry of Justice and Public Security commended ANES for their key role in the SYNERGY Network against Gender based and Domestic Violence.

In a report published today, the Council of Europe’s Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA) urges Denmark to improve the identification and protection of victims of trafficking, and to ensure that human trafficking offences are investigated, prosecuted and lead to effective, proportionate and dissuasive sanctions.
This third report on Denmark’s implementation of the Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings, focuses on access to justice and effective remedies for victims of trafficking in human beings. It also assesses developments since the publication of GRETA´s second evaluation report in 2016.
