Vice President-elect Kamala Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, received their first doses of Moderna s coronavirus vaccine on Tuesday, with the incoming vice president getting her shot on camera as part of efforts to build public trust in the inoculations.
Harris and Emhoff were administered the vaccine at United Medical Center in Washington, D.C., by Patricia Cummings, clinical nurse manager at the hospital. Let s do it, Harris told Cummings before she received her shot. I m ready.
After getting the vaccine, the vice president-elect exclaimed that was easy and said it was relatively painless and quick.

When politicians talk about “the science,” they often limit discussion to their science. As long as we understand that, we can defend ourselves by checking more reliable sources.
But what happens when the politicians start tinkering with primary sources with reports from government agencies most people consider to be objective and honest?
Even bearing in mind that the House of Representatives is controlled by Democrats who can set the agendas for committee investigations, a news report last week was disturbing. It involved an investigation by a House subcommittee chaired by U.S. Rep. James Clyburn, D-S.C.
Clyburn told The Associated Press that political appointees in President Donald Trump’s administration tried to block release of certain reports on the COVID-19 epidemic. The reports were from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

As soon-to-depart President Trump flails about attempting something - anything - to change the election results from November, we should note a pillar of democracy that has stood strong.
Our judicial system.
Judges and Supreme Court justices on both the state and federal levels have given precious little oxygen to the president’s nonsensical claims of election malfeasance. They have weighed evidence, considered legal arguments and, in case after case, shut down the president.
That’s far from a partisan verdict, by the way. Many of these judges were appointed by Trump himself. What the president doesn’t seem to understand is that even judges of a conservative bent swear an oath to the U.S. Constitution - not the person in office.

Vice President-elect Kamala Harris received a coronavirus vaccination on Tuesday in Washington, joining President-elect Joe Biden, Vice President Mike Pence and other leaders who have been inoculated.
Harris took the shot at United Medical Center in Southeast D.C., an area of the nation’s capital that is home to a large proportion of the city’s African American residents. People of color have disproportionately been affected by the toll of Covid-19, and public health officials have sought to combat vaccine hesitancy in these groups.
