Bangladesh gets UN recommendation for graduating from LDC status BSS 27th February, 2021 12:30:18 The United Nations Committee for Development Policy (UNCDP) has recommended Bangladesh’s graduation from the Least Developed Country (LDC) status for fulfilling its all three eligibility criteria for the second time alongside Nepal and Lao PDR. Taffere Tesfachew, chair of the CDP subgroup on LDCs, revealed the decision of recommendation at a briefing last night after the second triennial review of the UNCDP’s LDC category. The five-day review meeting was held on February 22-26. Bangladesh has met, for the second time, all the three eligibility criteria of graduation like income per capita, human assets, and economic and environmental vulnerability.
