Vermont Animal response teams urge preparedness

During a disaster, evacuating your home is often necessary. You may have an evacuation plan for your family, but you should have one for your pets as well. Pet owners often refuse to evacuate without their animals, so including them in your emergency plan is vital to the safety of the entire family. Disaster Animal Response Teams across Vermont are committed to educating pet owners on how to prepare their furry friends for emergencies. To further ensure preparedness, these teams have partnered with State Farm to provide go-bags for cat and dog owners, that include things such as collapsible water and food bowls, waste bag carriers shaped like dog bones, dog bite prevention coloring books, leashes and compact first aid kits, as well as cat and dog drawstring bags in which to store the items to be used during an evacuation.

Montana considering series of new bills to expand trapping and killing of wolves and bears and activists say it s an outright war against wildlife By Li Cohen March 9, 2021 / 7:55 PM / CBS News Gray wolves were removed from the endangered species list less than four months ago. But now, activists say their populations, as well as other endangered wildlife in Montana, may be at risk as the state considers a series of legislative bills that set out to expand trapping and hunting regulations.  Several bills are currently being weighed by legislators that would impact wolves and grizzly bears, both of which have historically struggled to maintain populations in the area.

First dog Major Biden: From the White House to the dog house?

Official White House Photo by Adam SchultzBy MICHELLE STODDART, ABC News (WASHINGTON) The White House on Tuesday confirmed, sort of, that the report creating widespread speculation was true: First dog Major had been sent to the dog house back in Delaware. In fact, both of the Bidens’ German shepherds Major and Champ have been at least temporarily transferred from the White House to be cared for by family friends in Delaware after Major was involved in an “incident” on Monday, reacting in a way that caused “a minor injury,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Tuesday. She said both dogs would be back, but it was unclear when, and if their trip was routine or because of Major’s “minor” transgression.
