Its goal this year is $220,000. (Courtesy HSNEGA) The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia is gearing up for the 12th annual Art with Heart fundraiser, and this year, the organization says, its $220,000 fundraising goal is more important than ever. “Everything we do, from vaccinating (the animals) when they come in the door, to feeding them … all the medical care they might need … there’s just a lot of neglect that you see,” said Sam Threadgill, the humane society’s development and marketing director. “So when people are donating to an event like this … you’re donating to help an animal.”

Leadership with the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia is looking to fill the positions of Medical Director and Associate Veterinarian. The Medical Director is responsible for overseeing and providing full-service medical and surgical care for both shelter and public animals that visit HSNEGA s Healthy Pet Clinic. This position also serves as the team leader for clinic-based medical and operational decisions, working with the Clinical Care Director and Executive Director.    Candidates for the Medical Director role must possess a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine and have a license in good standing with the state veterinary board or be able to obtain a Georgia license. Leadership with HSNEGA hope to have this position filled by April when the current Medical Director leaves, according to a press release from the shelter.
