Monroe County offering COVID-19 vaccines in Tomah April 14, 2021 11:40 AM Jourdan Vian TOMAH, Wis. (WKBT) The Monroe County Health Department has COVID-19 vaccine appointments available between 1:30 and 5 p.m. Thursday at the Monroe County Fairgrounds in Tomah’s Recreation Park. The clinics are open to those 16 and older by appointment only. Individuals can register online at http://healthymonroecowi.org/vaccine and click on “COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic Online Scheduling Week of 4/12/21-4/16/21” or call Monroe County Health Department at 608-269-8666. The Pfizer vaccine will be available at this clinic. There is no cost for the vaccine. Vaccine supply rises in Illinois but demand is lagging behind

Over in Monroe County, the health department administrator, John Wagner, was frustrated in the beginning with the lack in supply. At first, the department was getting 400 vaccines weekly. That number has bumped up to 600 to 1,000 vaccines a week.  Vaccine shipment increased, but that frustration has shifted. The urgency has kind of left, Wagner says. The supply seems to be going good, we can always use more . what we need is more demand. I think some of the mentality is you know, well, If I get it, I m just going to get sick. In the beginning, those at risk eagerly searched for a shot.

Special to The Times Although Monroe County commissioners are in full support of the Second Amendment, they said they are unable to declare the county a “Second Amendment Sanctuary.” Instead of signing the petition as requested by a group of “concerned citizens” last month, the Monroe County Board of Commissioners signed a resolution Monday that states the board supports the right to bear arms and encourages the state legislature to establish Ohio as a “Second Amendment Sanctuary.” Commissioner Mick Schumacher said commissioners are unable to declare the county a “Second Amendment Sanctuary” because they are do not have the authority to legislate. If they did, the document essentially would be meaningless and have no legal standing, he added.

Monroe County to hold open COVID-19 vaccine clinics | News, Sports, Jobs

Special to The Times WOODSFIELD In an effort to ensure all county residents have the opportunity to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, the Monroe County Health Department will hold multiple open clinics with the first set for this weekend. The initial opportunity is set for 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, and the second is set for 5-7 p.m. April 15. Both are being held at the Monroe County Fairgrounds in Woodsfield. Administrator Linda Masters said the health department will hold open clinics on the weekend and during evening hours for those who may have missed an opportunity to become vaccinated due to their work schedule.
