Kirk Ashton, 51, was charged with six counts of first-degree sexual abuse and five counts of second-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, both felonies, and nine counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, according to the New York State Police.
At a mid-morning news conference in Greece, Major Barry Chase of New York State Police said that all of the alleged sexual acts took place at the school during school hours over the past four years.

After about an hour and a half of negotiation, 19-year-old Christian Hall was shot by the Pennsylvania State Police on a highway overpass near the Giant where he worked.
It would later emerge that Hall was having a mental health crisis. He had recently gone through a breakup, and he missed people he couldn’t see due to the pandemic, his family and lawyers have said. He had called 911 anonymously to report a possibly suicidal person.
A Hilton elementary school principal is accused of sexually abusing students. According to the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office, Northwood Elementary School principal Kirk Ashton was arraigned Wednesday night in Greece Town Court. New York State Police said the felony charges include six counts of first-degree sexual abuse, five counts of second-degree course of sexual conduct against a child and nine counts of endangering the welfare of a child. State Police said there are nine victims, all boys. The current allegations date back to 2017, and all the incidents happened at the school. The victims are between 8 and 12 years old.

“Listen, this guy.” Greece Police Chief Drew Forsythe said pausing as his eyes welled with tears. “We dropped our children off to this guy every day.”
The children of Chief Forsythe and hundreds of other families attended the school where Kirk Ashton was principal. Northwood Elementary School is in the Hilton Central School District but sits in the Town of Greece.

Ashton, a Rush resident, has been the principal at Northwood Elementary School in the Hilton Central School District since 2004. He was placed on administrative leave from the school district last week. Chase said that Ashton was last in contact with students on March 26, the last day of school before spring break.
