Park Rapids is the gateway to
Itasca State Park. The south park entrance is a 19-mile drive from Park Rapids north on U.S. Highway 71, and the east entrance is only a couple miles farther north, near the junction of Highways 71 and 200.
Itasca State Park encompasses
Established in 1891, Itasca is Minnesota’s oldest state park.
Today, the park totals more than 32,000 acres and includes more than 100 lakes.

The Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center is named for World War II pilot Dick Bong, who flew more than 200 missions over the Southwest Pacific and destroyed 40 enemy planes a U.S. piloting record. The center explores the life of the Poplar, Wisconsin, pilot, as well as other veterans, with artifacts, military vehicles, interactive displays and more.

The Douglas Fault geological formation created the waterfalls at Amnicon Falls State Park, about 20 minutes southeast of Superior. View the falls from a covered footbridge or from 2 miles of trails. Picnicking areas and camping are available.

Visitors flock to the 15th annual Moondance Jammin’ Country Fest to hear some of the world’s greatest country artists. Set for June 17-19, the 2021 festival will feature Midland, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (pictured), Jo Dee Messina and many more.
Then, on July 22-24, Moondance Jam will attract thousands to the 300-acre Moondance Events campground and concert area east of Walker.
