Participants will receive weekly emails with heart-health information, trackers and challenges to guide them toward heart-healthy habits.
“Knowing and understanding key heart numbers blood pressure, cholesterol and heart rate, along with your family history allow you and your health care team to determine your risk for developing heart and cardiovascular diseases,” says Jose Exaire, M.D., a cardiologist for Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse. “Knowing your risk is critical to preventing heart diseases and for taking steps to improve your overall heart health.”
Mayo Clinic to move COVID-19 vaccination location on Monday

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse will move its COVID-19 vaccination clinic location Monday to the staff gymnasium at the corner of 11th and Ferry streets.
“The time is right for us to move to a larger location as we move forward with vaccinating those in phase 1a,” said Bradley Weber, operations administrator for Mayo Clinic Health System’s Southwest Wisconsin Region. “We are doing this so we can offer as many vaccinations as possible while physical distancing. This also allows us flexibility for when state and federal authorities approve vaccinations future phases including our patients and community members listed in phases 1b and 1c, and phase 2.”
Mother and daughter spend Christmas together working on the frontlines

LA CROSSE Wis. (WKBT) – This year many of us couldn’t gather with family on Christmas.
But for one mother and daughter, the pandemic gave them an opportunity they’ve rarely had in the past.
Meg Bonadurer, an RN at Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse, normally spends the holiday on the 7th floor of the hospital, while her mother, Kitty Maxwell Bonadurer, spends the day at home.
Kitty is a nurse in the general surgery clinic and hasn’t worked on a hospital floor for many years.

DRIFTLESS - Over the past week COVID-19, diagnoses statewide increased from 438,895 on Monday, Dec. 14 to 458,612 on Monday, Dec. 21. That is a statewide increase of 19,717 cases. The number of deaths increased from 4,068 to 4,425, an additional 357 deaths, according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) Gundersen Health System and Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse will receive their first allocation of COVID-19 vaccines Monday afternoon in La Crosse.
Staff at greatest risk of virus exposure will begin receiving the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine first at about noon Tuesday to protect vulnerable patients, each other and community members, according to Gundersen. The group includes COVID unit staff; Emergency Room clinicians, nurses and technicians; long-term care staff; and hospital housekeeping staff.
The hospital reminded people that while the vaccine as begun to arrive, it remains vital that people take prevention steps seriously. As the first round of vaccinations begin, it is extremely important everyone continue to follow COVID-19 health and safety measures to limit the spread of the virus: wear a mask; maintain physical distancing and a
