(WKBT) Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse will move its COVID-19 vaccination clinic location Monday to the staff gymnasium at the corner of 11th and Ferry streets. “The time is right for us to move to a larger location as we move forward with vaccinating those in phase 1a,” said Bradley Weber, operations administrator for Mayo Clinic Health System’s Southwest Wisconsin Region. “We are doing this so we can offer as many vaccinations as possible while physical distancing. This also allows us flexibility for when state and federal authorities approve vaccinations future phases including our patients and community members listed in phases 1b and 1c, and phase 2.”

But for one mother and daughter, the pandemic gave them an opportunity they’ve rarely had in the past. Meg Bonadurer, an RN at Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse, normally spends the holiday on the 7th floor of the hospital, while her mother, Kitty Maxwell Bonadurer, spends the day at home. Kitty is a nurse in the general surgery clinic and hasn’t worked on a hospital floor for many years.

(WKBT) Gundersen Health System and Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse will receive their first allocation of COVID-19 vaccines Monday afternoon in La Crosse. Staff at greatest risk of virus exposure will begin receiving the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine first at about noon Tuesday to protect vulnerable patients, each other and community members, according to Gundersen. The group includes COVID unit staff; Emergency Room clinicians, nurses and technicians; long-term care staff; and hospital housekeeping staff. The hospital reminded people that while the vaccine as begun to arrive, it remains vital that people take prevention steps seriously.
