In less than a year’s time, the first doses of COVID-19’s solution are here. UW-Health received its first doses Monday.
The Twin Cities can say the same. There is a pecking order, however, a line of people who need it first. Those of us who are not healthcare professionals, residents of a nursing home, or emergency first responders will have to wait our turn.

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – The rollout of the new COVID-19 vaccine is giving people hope, but the challenges over the last few months still linger.
Health care workers have had a year like none other; during a virtual news conference Tuesday five frontline workers from Mayo Clinic Health System shared what they’ve been through.
Those who took part included a nurse who has worked in both Arizona and the Midwest; two respiratory therapists – one from Florida and one from La Crosse; a lab worker and an infusion center nurse – both from Rochester.

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KEYC) As COVID-19 vaccines ship across the nation, with the first doses arriving in Minnesota on Monday, Midwest Mayo Clinic Health System facilities prepare for distribution.
Dr. Andrew Badley, M.D., of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, says they anticipate administering the first vaccines Monday, Dec 21.
“In wave one of the vaccine, we will be providing vaccines to those positions and health care professionals who provide direct care to patients with COVID. Emergency care staff, long term care facilities, people who work in the morgue and methodology lab, emergency medical staff and urgent care center,” said Badley, Mayo Clinic COVID-19 Task Force chair and physician-researcher.
EAU CLAIRE â The first-ever doses of the COVID-19 vaccine arrived in Eau Claire Tuesday at Mayo Clinic Health System, marking the beginning of a massive vaccination effort in the Chippewa Valley and the nation thatâs expected to last long into 2021.
Front-line workers will be the first to receive the vaccine at Mayo Clinic in Eau Claire, according to the clinic.
Mayo Clinic got its first doses of the vaccine from the state Department of Health Services.
Wisconsinâs first 10,000 doses first arrived Monday, and health care workers got their first doses quickly after. Another 35,000 doses are expected in Wisconsin by the end of next week, the Associated Press reported Monday.
