I m going to operate under the assumption that our city officials were just unaware of how dilapidated our parks have become. Equipment intended for our children is broken, worn down, and frankly, unsafe and unfit for our kids. Why am I paying taxes again?
I ve witnessed poor park quality myself. At Charles A. Guy Park on 86th & Memphis, I noticed the playground floor had enormous holes in it, creating a tripping hazard for children. I did see workers at the park a couple of weeks later, so perhaps this has since been fixed.
However, photos from Dr. Armando Duran Park on 28th and Kewanee prove that maybe just the south side of town is getting those repairs. My friend took the photos in frustration after he reported the unsafe conditions to 3-1-1 multiple times with no results.

On the first day of STAAR testing (Tuesday, April 6th), testing was suspended after multiple students were unable to either start or complete their online test.
It s being reported that those in Grade 4 Writing, Grade 7 Writing and English I were the ones that were affected by these widespread connectivity issues.
Texas Education Agency officials have said:

Students who were unable to either start or complete their online English I STAAR test will be allowed a retest on Tuesday, April 13th Those in Grade 4 or Grade 7 online writing will be able to use the remaining testing days in the week to complete their writing assessments.

On Saturday, April 17th, South Plains College will be offering the Texas License to Carry a Handgun class in room 109C of the Law Enforcement Technology building on the Levelland campus.
This course will cost $75 for those getting their license for the first time, not including the $40 fee for fingerprint and background checks required by the Texas Department of Public Safety and FBI.
Students are required to bring their own revolver or semi-automatic pistol of any caliber and 50 rounds of ammunition. Those without eye and hearing protection will be provided such.
