Police: Officers fatally shoot man who opened fire on crowd, killing 15-year-old boy

FOX 29 s Alex George has the latest on a police involved shooting in Kensington.
KENSINGTON - Police in Kensington shot and killed a suspect who they say fired a gun into a crowd of people early Friday morning, killing a 15-year-old and injuring another teen.
Officers were called to the 3300 block of Emerald Street around 12:30 a.m. for reports of a fight on the street.
While officers were trying to break up the altercation, police say more people emerged from a home and formed a large crowd on the sidewalk and street. Members of the crowd became violent, according to police, causing 43-year-old Jesus Perez to pull a gun from his waistband and fire into the crowd.

And the teen who died in the shooting has been identified as the man’s 15-year-old son, NBC 10 is reporting.
According to reports, officers were called to the scene of a fight in the Port Richmond neighborhood on the 3300 block of Emerald Street around 12:30 a.m. Friday. When police tried to diffuse the situation, family members came out of their homes, forming a large crowd, which broke into a fight.
That’s when police say Jesus Perez, 43, pulled out a 9-mm handgun that had been stolen out of Virginia and opened fire, striking his son, Jeremy Perez, and a 17-year-old boy in the neck, reports indicate.
