The family of a notorious slave trade investor have criticised plans by a University of Cambridge college to move his memorial. Jesus College has made plans to move a large marble memorial dedicated to Tobias Rustat, a college benefactor who invested in a slave trading company that shipped more slaves to the Americas than any other institution, as well as make changes wherever Rustat is “explicitly celebrated”.
