SAULT STE MARIE The Sault Ste. Marie Police Department will be welcoming a new police chief in a few weeks: Wesley Bierling.
According to city manager Brian Chapman, Bierling is currently the undersheriff for Lake County. Prior to that role he served as the undersheriff and as a sheriff’s deputy for Newaygo County. Bierling has accepted this offer of employment and he starts tentatively on June 1.
“Bierling brings a good mix of law enforcement and managerial experience which will help him contribute to the great work our police department is currently doing,” said Chapman.
Dr. Gabriel Fluhrer Recommended For Next Pastor At First Presbyterian Church Monday, April 19, 2021

The Pulpit Search Committee at First Presbyterian Church is recommending Dr. Gabriel Fluhrer to the congregation to be the next senior pastor of the historic Chattanooga church.
Dr. Fluhrer will preach at First Presbyterian on May 9.
He will be just the 14th pastor at First Presbyterian in its long history dating back to the early days of Chattanooga.
The most recent pastor, Dr. Tim Tinsley, died earlier this year.

Popular Reformed theologian and founder of DesiringGod.org John Piper recently laid out five reasons why baptism is an important practice for Christians to engage in.
Baptism is a Christian practice in which an individual, either an adult, child or baby, depending on specific theological tradition or circumstance, is either sprinkled with water or dipped into water to represent their becoming a Christian.

During the Passover observance in 2019, 19-year-old John Earnest allegedly walked into a synagogue in Poway, California and opened fire, killing one worshipper and wounding three others.
It was later revealed that Earnest was an active member of an Orthodox Presbyterian Church congregation and specifically believed that he was doing God s will by killing Jews.
The revelation that the lone suspect in the mass shooting was a devout Christian stirred reactions from many, including author and columnist Michael Brown, a proponent of Messianic Judaism and host of the nationally syndicated radio show, “The Line of Fire.”
