According to the sheriff’s office, Sgt. Austin Milbourn has been a certified peace officer for 4 1/2 years and started at WCSO in January 2021. Sgt. Austin Milbourn and K9 Jois (Source: Wood County Sheriff s Office) Milbourn’s new partner K9 Jois is a German Shepherd that came from Poland and is 1 1/2 years old.

Wood County searches for 76-year-old with dementia

Updated: 9:58 PM CDT April 18, 2021 WOOD COUNTY, Texas Wood County Sheriff is looking for a 76-year-old man who is missing and endangered.   Charles Winters, born October 14, 1944, was last seen wearing a red button-up shirt with gray sweatpants and brown sketcher shoes. He left on April 18, 2021, at approximately 5:30 p.m. from his residence in a 2017 white Nissan Pathfinder bearing Texas license plate KJL4657. His route was unknown, other than he traveled from CR 1302 in Yantis, Texas.  Winters was recently diagnosed with dementia and has been progressively getting worse.  Wood County sheriff asks that if you see Winters, call local law enforcement or Wood County Sheriff’s Office at 903-763-2201.

April 5 • A deputy responded to Emerson Avenue for a vehicle accident. The deputy observed the vehicle to have minor damage to the front driver side bumper and the driver stated he was traveling north on Emerson Avenue when he struck a deer. • A deputy responded to Par Metta Circle for a vehicle hitting a house. The driver stated she had set the emergency brake on the vehicle as well as left the vehicle with manual transmission in first gear. The vehicle coasted backward down the driveway striking a house. The house sustained minor damage on the exterior however the interior wall was intruded upon including at least one wall stud inside the residence. The vehicle was pulled off the house and out of the yard without further damage to the house.
