WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) â The Marathon County Public Library branches will open to full capacity for the first time in over a year.
Trustees voted on Monday to open all braces to 100% capacity starting August 1st. Interim Director Leah Giordano says theyâve been able to successfully manage crowds at lower levels, and health department data shows that now is the time to reopen all the way.
âWeâve been open for several months now beginning with limited occupancy based on the health departmentâs recommendations, and that went fine, â she said. âThe health department agreed we should open a little bit more, so we did that last month and that went fine. So now we are [ready] to open 100%.â

The Marathon County Library Board accepted the resignation of Library Director Ralph Illick Thursday morning following a two-hour closed session.
Deputy Corporation Counsel Mike Puerner says they also authorized the Marathon County Employee Resources Director to draft a severance agreement and to speak with Illick about it.
Puerner says the investigation remains active and no further comment about the complaint will be provided at this time, but we could know more next month.
“This board has requested follow up on the actions they’ve made today, and that follow up would be at the next board meeting.”
