Published: Monday, May 10, 2021 - 6:07pm Updated: Tuesday, May 11, 2021 - 1:21pm Senate Republican leaders didn’t follow through with a threat to subpoena multiple Maricopa County officials on Monday, but may yet set the stage for a new legal battle this week. Kory Langhofer, an attorney for the Senate, said over the weekend he would issue subpoenas on Monday for all five county supervisors and possibly Maricopa County Sheriff Paul Penzone. The subpoenas would demand the supervisors and other officials appear before the Senate to explain why the county won’t surrender routers and passwords GOP senators claim are essential to completing the Senate’s review of the county’s 2020 general election.

Judge dismisses GOP lawsuit over Maricopa County election May 11, 2021 FacebookTwitterEmail PHOENIX (AP) A Maricopa County Superior Court judge dismissed a lawsuit over alleged voting irregularities in the Arizona Republican Party s January election, ruling that the dispute involved internal party politics and cannot be decided in a court of law. The lawsuit stemmed from the Arizona Republican Party Jan. 23 election after party chairwoman Kelli Ward narrowly won her re-election. Ward’s challenger, Sandra Dowling, alongside party activist Bill Beard, sued Ward and the party in March when party officials declined their attorney’s calls for an audit and recount, even as Ward made similar claims of former President Donald Trump s loss to President Joe Biden.

Kory Langhofer, the attorney for the Senate, said he will be issuing subpoenas Monday for all five Maricopa County supervisors, demanding they appear to explain why they won t surrender certain equipment and information for review as part of the audit of the 2020 General Election returns.  Langhofer also said the Senate wants to hear from Scott Jarrett, the county s director of election day and emergency voting. But that may just be part of it.
