PHOENIX 12 News has uncovered new details into the investigation of a Phoenix police officer that allegedly threatened Mayor Kate Gallego.
It’s been months since the October incident, but no charges have been filed.
Phoenix police officer Steven Poulos is accused of threatening Mayor Gallego’s life. A police report obtained by 12 News says the threatening comments were allegedly made at a squad briefing on Oct. 12.

The Phoenix Police Department has placed long time officer Steven Poulos on administrative leave after he threatened to shoot Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego over a potential reduction in the police department budget, according to The Arizona Republic.
Poulos and six other officers were discussing the defund the police phrase when he made a statement in regards to Gallego. If the mayor defunds the police, I m going to shoot her, Poulos told the group.

PHOENIX â The family of a murdered Arizona Rattlers football player is remembering his life and asking why the case to bring his killer to justice has stalled.
McDowdell s family spoke to him by phone just hours before he was killed. We were talking about how 2020 was gonna be exciting; weâre gonna do so many things, said Tyia Patrick, McDowdell s mom.
His family held a vigil for McDowdell Sunday in New York to mark one year since his death.

The same day police officer Derek Chauvin killed George Floyd in Minneapolis, Department of Public Safety Trooper George Cervantes shot and killed Dion Johnson in Phoenix.
