A Salem man was sentenced to five years in prison for shooting and injuring a man at a parking lot of a southeast Salem apartment complex in late 2019.
Jesus Valencia-Bautista, 28, pleaded guilty April 19 to first-degree attempted assault with a firearm and delivery of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a school. Second-degree assault and delivery of cocaine charges were dismissed as part of the plea agreement, court records show.
He was sentenced Friday before Marion County Circuit Court Judge Audrey Broyles.
Salem Police responded around 4 a.m. Dec. 20, 2019, to an apartment complex in the 100 block of 37th Avenue SE to find a man with multiple gunshots. Hours later, Valencia-Bautista called police and turned himself in.
