yesterday in News Photo: Crawford County Now MARION Marion County Prosecutor Ray Grogran announced the fate of an Upper Sandusky man who led police on a high-speed chase through three counties on July 14th. Jeffrey Purvis videoed the chase and posted it live on Facebook. He pleaded guilty in the Marion County Common Pleas Court last week to one count of failure to comply, a third-degree felony. Purvis was sentenced to 18 months in prison. On his Facebook page, Prosecutor Grogan made this announcement: “Purvis’ actions on July 14th put many innocent drivers and law enforcement officers in harm’s way. His brazen attempts to make light of his actions by broadcasting them on social media is absolutely ridiculous. He could have killed somebody. Thankfully law enforcement officers kept following him, and eventually, he was stopped.” Grogan said.

Marion County Judge, Wife Sentenced In Hit-And-Run

Apr 14, 2021 (MARION, Ohio) A Marion County Common Pleas Court judge and his wife have been sentenced to two years in prison stemming from a June 2020 hit-and-run that injured a 19-year-old man, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost announced today. Judge Jason Warner and Julia Warner were found guilty of complicity to leaving the scene of an accident, a felony of the fourth degree, and complicity to tampering with evidence, a felony of the third degree. Under Ohio Revised Code Section 2961.01, as a convicted felon, Jason Warner will no longer be eligible to serve as a judge. The crash was investigated by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Ohio Attorney General’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation. The Special Prosecutions Section of the Attorney General’s Office prosecuted the case.

Marion Man Convicted of Murder Faces Life In Prison

Mar 12, 2021 Marion County Prosecutor Raymond A. Grogan, Jr., announced today that a Marion County man faces up to life in prison after pleading guilty to a September, 2019 murder. Benjamin Lopez pleaded guilty in Marion County Common Pleas Court on Wednesday to the Murder of Jeremy Clements, age 41, in Clements’ apartment at 439 Smith Street, Marion, on September 24, 2019. Lopez faces a sentence of 15 years to life in prison. He will be sentenced by visiting Judge William R. Finnegan at a later date. Lopez, who went to Clements’ apartment in the early morning hours on that date, assaulted and strangled Clements,’ Grogan explained. After killing Clements, Lopez stole Jeremy’s property and attempted to conceal it in an abandoned house next door, he said.
