JANELLE PATTERSON For The Intelligencer MARIETTA, Ohio The Washington County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday afternoon the arrest of a suspect in the series of bomb and active shooter threats in southeast Ohio schools over the last six days. Nicholas John Frances Hall, 18, of 1385 Washington Road, Thomson, Ga., was arrested in McDuffie County, Ga., by the McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office. Washington County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Mark Warden announced the arrest after a multi-agency investigation Tuesday. According to the affidavit submitted to Marietta Municipal Court by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday for a warrant uploaded to the National Crime Information Center, Hall allegedly confessed to a deputy sheriff of the Georgia agency that “he made the bomb threats to get his girlfriend out of school.”

A Marietta man was arrested Sunday after attempting to steal two catalytic converters. Deane Allen Beck Jr., 41, of 105 Melody Lane, was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Jail for one count of tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony; two counts of theft, both first-degree misdemeanors; two counts of possessing criminal tools, both first-degree misdemeanors; and one count of resisting arrest, a second-degree misdemeanor. He appeared in Marietta Municipal Court and bond was set at $3,750 bond. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center received a call Sunday reporting a man was observed under a vehicle at Pioneer Collision, 1310 Pike St., Marietta. It was reported that he appeared to be removing the catalytic converter.

Hall, according to FBI records, has a past criminal charge out of Lee County, Fla., for a first-degree misdemeanor of battery from March of 2018. According to the affidavit submitted to Marietta Municipal Court by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday for a warrant uploaded to the National Crime Information Center, Hall allegedly confessed to a deputy sheriff of the Georgia agency that “he made the bomb threats to get his girlfriend out of school.”

David Browne, Executive Director of the WCBHB, states “We see the mental health court as a perfect use of levy funds entrusted to the Board.” Mental health concerns have been on the minds of many since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. For Marietta Municipal Court Judge Janet Welch, it has been a concern in her court for many years. Judge Welch has had a special interest in mental health and linking mentally ill offenders to treatment since she began her career as a judge in 2006.

N J man arrested for sex with minor | News, Sports, Jobs

From Staff Reports A 28-year-old New Jersey resident was arrested Saturday for unlawful sexual conduct with a Little Hocking juvenile. Elijah Reid-Williams of 77 Whittlesey Ave. 2nd Floor, West Orange, was charged with four counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, all third-degree felonies, and one count of fourth-degree felony attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. Washington County Sheriff’s deputies responded Saturday to a Little Hocking address, in response to a missing 13-year-old girl. The girl’s grandfather went to look for her and observed a suspicious vehicle leave the area. He was able to get the license plate number of the vehicle, which had a New Jersey license plate.
