Derek Chauvin, a white former Minneapolis police officer, was convicted on Tuesday of murdering African-American George Floyd after a racially charged trial seen as a pivotal test of police accountability in the United States.
The jury deliberated less than 11 hours before finding 45-year-old Chauvin guilty of all three charges against him: second-degree murder, third-degree murder and manslaughter.

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison isn t ruling out the possibility of plea deals with the three other officers charged in George Floyd s death.
Ellison, whose office prosecuted Derek Chauvin and is prosecuting former officers J. Alexander Kueng, Thomas Lane and Tou Thao, appeared on SiriusXM s
The Joe Madison Show Tuesday.
Madison asked Ellison if it s too late for the other officers to cut a deal before their trial beings in August (they ll be tried together). It’s possible, but that’s stuff that I wouldn’t be able to discuss publicly, Ellison told Madison.
