Medical examiner identifies young couple killed in Burnsville crash
The 22-year-olds were boyfriend and girlfriend.

The victims of a double-fatal crash in Burnsville on April 4 were identified Thursday by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner s Office.
The crash happened on County Road 42 at Newton Ave. around 10:30 a.m. Sunday. The victims killed in the crash were both 22 years old: Tayler Nicole Garza, of River Falls, Wisconsin, and Dalton Lee Ford, of Prescott, Wisconsin.
Ford was driving the vehicle when the crash occurred, according to the medical examiner. According to the Department of Public Safety, Ford was making a turn when their SUV was struck on the passenger side by one of two racing cars in the east-bound lanes of the divided highway.

Testimony from Minneapolis forensic pathologists, including the doctor who performed the autopsy of George Floyd, were front and center in the murder trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin on Friday.
Lindsey Thomas, a semi-retired forensic pathologist with more than 35 years of experience, began the 10th day of trial proceedings in the high-profile case.
Forensic and other medical professionals have been a mainstay during the latter part of this week’s testimony, with the prosecution focused on Floyd s cause of death on May 25.

Cause of death is a key battleground in the trial.
Heart disease, fentanyl contributed to George Floyd’s death but were not main cause, medical examiner says
George Floyd’s heart disease and use of fentanyl were contributing factors to his death, but they were not the direct cause, the medical examiner who performed his autopsy testified on Friday in the trial of former police officer Derek Chauvin.
Hennepin County Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Andrew Baker ruled Floyd’s death last May a homicide and identified the cause as “cardiopulmonary arrest” that occurred during “law enforcement subdual, restraint, and neck compression” all findings he stood by in court on Friday.

Judge Peter Cahill told the jury that the next witness is a medical doctor, but they won t have time to complete his testimony Friday.
He adjourned early and told the jury to return at 9:30 a.m. Monday, after he and the attorneys sort out legal issues.
It s possible a family member or friend will testify as a spark of life witness Monday as well. I would expect the state to rest on Monday, said attorney Doug Kelley, who is serving as a trial expert for KARE 11.
