Shortly after prosecutors asked the state Court of Appeals to reinstate the charge against Chauvin, the state Supreme Court agreed to hear Mohamed Noor s appeal of his third-degree murder conviction in the 2017 shooting death of Justine Ruszczyk Damond. Oral arguments are scheduled for June. In Chauvin s case, prosecutors are racing the clock to reinstate the third-degree murder charge against the ex-officer, who already faces second-degree murder and manslaughter charges. In Noor s case, he is seeking to have the conviction dismissed and be sentenced on the lesser conviction of manslaughter.
