The St. Paul man who drove an SUV into a parked car protecting protesters blocking an Uptown intersection and killed a woman does not have a driver s license and has a history of drunken driving convictions and other crimes dating back more than 17 years, according to authorities.
Nicholas D. Kraus, 35, remains jailed Tuesday without bail on suspicion of criminal vehicular homicide in connection with the crash late Sunday that killed 31-year-old Deona M. Knajdek of Minneapolis and injured three other protesters.

Brooklyn Park police told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS a Hennepin County judge has ordered 46-year-old Christopher Dewayne Rice to be held in jail for a minimum of 50 days as prosecutors pursue possible criminal charges in the death of 65-year-old Paul Pfeifer.
Police told KSTP they believe Rice intentionally drove his vehicle into Pfeifer while he was attempting to pick up his mail at the end of his driveway last Saturday, and Rice is being held in custody on suspicion of criminal vehicular homicide.
Rice has a history of severe mental illness and could have been released from jail Tuesday at noon, but a judge ordered him held in custody for the next 50 days because he poses a risk to himself and others.

MINNEAPOLIS Minneapolis Police released a statement naming 35-year-old Nicholas D. Kraus as the suspect in the death of protester Deona Marie.
Marie was killed when a Jeep hit her parked vehicle in Uptown, pushing it into her.
Kraus was arrested on suspicion of criminal vehicular homicide in connection with the incident, but has not been charged. The Hennepin County Attorney s Office asked for an extension until Wednesday at noon.
