MINNEAPOLIS Loved ones of 19-year-old Yadhira Romero Martinez are remembering her one week after she was found dead inside a Minneapolis home.
Martinez s cousin – Jenny Smith – says the family initially filed a missing persons report when she didn t come home from work. My brother was actually the one that was looking for her, said Smith. We couldn t find her, so obviously we reported to authorities, but it was taking a long time.

MINNEAPOLIS Family and friends remembered 19-year-old Yadhira Romero Martinez, describing her as gentle and kind at a vigil over the weekend.
Martinez - who lived in Bloomington - was found dead last Friday inside a Minneapolis home. Every time I see these articles about women being killed, it s tragic, says Cheryl Thomas, Executive Director for Global Rights for Women.
The organization is working to end systemic violence against women across the country. For Thomas - Martinez s story is one of many across the world.

MAPLE GROVE, Minn. A Minneapolis man pleaded guilty to killing his girlfriend s ex-boyfriend as he dropped off the couple s two children for a scheduled visitation, the Hennepin County Attorney s Office announced Tuesday.
Prosecutors say Rodney Velho, 45, of Minneapolis, pleaded guilty Monday to intentional second-degree murder in the shooting death of 31-year-old Kevin Logan, Jr.
According to a criminal complaint, Velho and his girlfriend were celebrating her birthday on April 19, 2020 at her apartment in Maple Grove and at some point she told Velho that Logan was the father of her children and he would be dropping them off for a scheduled visitation.

A Minneapolis man pleaded guilty Monday to fatally shooting his girlfriend s ex-boyfriend last year in a western suburb.
Rodney Velho, 45, pleaded guilty in Hennepin County District Court to one count of intentional second-degree murder in the April 19 killing of Kevin Logan Jr.
He is scheduled to be sentenced May 10 and is expected to receive 20 years in prison, said the Hennepin County Attorney s Office.
According to the county attorney: Velho and his girlfriend were celebrating her birthday at her Maple Grove apartment when Logan stopped by about 6 p.m. to drop off the two children he had with the woman.
