Public Sector oil and gas sector companies Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd, ONGC, and GAIL on Thursday signed MoUs with Badrinath Utthan Charitable Trust to contribute ₹99.6 crore in the first phase of construction and redevelopment of Badrinath Dham as a spiritual smart hill town.
The developmental activities will include river embankment work, building all-terrain vehicular path, building bridges, beautifying existing bridges, establishing gurukul facilities with accommodation, creating toilet and drinking water facilities, installing streetlights, and mural paintings, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said in a statement.

Social media posts mislead on reasons for India s lack of oxygen plants
(AFP) - As India’s coronavirus disaster deepened, Facebook and Twitter posts, including a tweet from a top Bollywood actress, accused the chief ministers of Maharashtra and Delhi states of failing to build sufficient oxygen plants despite being given funding in January 2021. But the claim lacks important context: although the oxygen plants mentioned in the posts were indeed not constructed in time, the funding had actually been allocated to the Central Medical Supply Store, part of India’s Ministry of Health; official documents show the state governments were not involved.

While interacting with plant owners the Deputy Commissioner directed them to ensure an uninterrupted supply of Medical Oxygen to the hospitals to fulfill the required demand. The DC also pushed for increased production at the plant level to cater to local needs for oxygen. He said if any diversion of medical oxygen is reported to the non-medical sector serious action will be initiated.
