Romania will receive, on Monday, the largest tranche of the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine, which consists of 725,400 doses, as well as 40,800 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine, the National COVID-19 Vaccination Coordination Committee (CNCAV) announced, reports agerpres.
The vaccines from Pfizer/BioNTech will be delivered by air and will arrive at the airports in Otopeni, Cluj-Napoca and Timisoara, according to a CNCAV release sent to AGERPRES on Sunday.
Transport to the storage centers in special containers with carbonic ice and sealed foil is ensured by the manufacturing company, including by land.

The National Institute for Medical-Military Research and Development Cantacuzino will receive 106,800 doses of Moderna vaccine on Friday, according to the National COVID-19 Vaccination Coordination Committee (CNCAV). 106,800 doses of Moderna vaccine will arrive on Friday at the National Institute of Medical-Military Research and Development Cantacuzino. The transport is provided by the manufacturing company, and the doses of the vaccine will be brought to Bucharest by land. The first batch of Moderna vaccines arrived in Romania on Tuesday night, by land, entering the country through the western Nadlac II Border Crossing Point, the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations Arad reported.
The vaccines were brought in by truck, escorted by police, and border formalities lasted a few minutes, with the lane secured for passage.
The truck immediately left for Bucharest, escorted by Police and Gendarmerie crews.
The National Committee for the Coordination of Vaccination Activities against COVID-19 reported on Tuesday that the first batch of 14,000 doses of Moderna vaccine will arrive on Wednesday at the Cantacuzino National Institute for Medical-Military Research and Development.

According to the source, the transport is ensured by the manufacturing company, and the vaccines will be brought to Bucharest by land.
The vaccines will be stored at the National Storage Centre, and in the following period they will distributed in regional and vaccination centers.
The recommendation for the Moderna vaccine is to be administered in two doses, with a 28-day interval, for people of over 18 years of age.
