It’s been a long nine months for 91-year-old Eileen Costello.
Quarantined since March at her Gulf Breeze nursing home, Bay Breeze Senior Living and Rehabilitation Center, Costello hasn’t been able to socialize with her friends or see her family since the start of the pandemic.
But on a sunny Tuesday morning with a small shot to the arm, Costello got her first taste of relief and safety in a long time.
“This means that I won’t get sick and die,” Costello said with a smile. “I’m feeling good. I don’t know. I’m a silly old lady.”

One case was moved to another county’s judication due to address change.
The health department were notified today of five additional COVID related deaths. Benzie County reported four COVID associated deaths, one male in his 90’s, and three females in their 60’s, 80’s, and 90’s.
Leelanau County reported one COVID associated death of a female in her 80’s.
The MDSS dashboard is reporting one additional death in Leelanau and due to duplication, we will not be reporting that case/COVID associated death due to another county reporting that case/COVID associated death.

The Galion City Health Department has received its first shipment of the COVID-19 vaccine produced by Moderna. Health Commissioner Trish Factor said first responders and those who work in healthcare will be the first people to receive vaccinations.

GALION The Galion City Health Department has received its first shipment of COVID-19 vaccine.
Health Commissioner Trish Factor said the shipment of the vaccine produced by Moderna arrived Monday at the agency. Vaccinations are scheduled to begin on Wednesday, she said, with “first responders, EMS crews, those who are providing some critical healthcare” slated to be innoculated.
