Athens hosts Drug Take Back event April 24

From Staff Reports 5 hrs ago Athens will participate in the Drug Enforcement Administration s Drug Take Back event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 24 at the Athens Partnership Center, 201 W. Corsicana St.   The Athens Police Department and Keep Athens Beautiful will give the public its 19th opportunity in 11 years to to prevent pill abuse and theft and rid their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs like painkillers, tranquilizers, and stimulants.   The service is free and anonymous, with no questions asked. However, the DEA will not accept liquids, needles, or sharps. Only pills and/or patches will be accepted.

LITTLE ROCK – Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge is encouraging Arkansans to clean out their medicine cabinets and bring any unused or expired medications to one of the state’s more than 250 Prescription Drug Take Back Day drop-off locations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 24. “Cleaning out medicine cabinets and turning the expired, unused medications over to law enforcement during a Drug Take Back event will save lives,” said Attorney General Leslie Rutledge. “It is important now more than ever that we continue to properly dispose of these prescription drugs.” The Arkansas Attorney General’s Office hosts Prescription Drug Take Back Day twice a year in partnership with Arkansas Department of Health, Arkansas Department of Human Services, Arkansas National Guard, Arkansas Rotary Clubs, Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy, DEA, FBI, Office of the State Drug Director and over 100 additional law enforcement and government agencies, community organizations

(Joseph Cyr | Houlton Pioneer Times) Houlton police to hold ‘Drug Takeback Day’ this weekend Houlton police will hold a Drug Takeback Day on  Saturday, April 24, where it expects to receive some of the highest amounts of unwanted or unused prescription medication in the state.  HOULTON, Maine Houlton police will hold a Drug Takeback Day on  Saturday, April 24, where it expects to receive some of the highest amounts of unwanted or unused prescription medication in the state.  The event, held in conjunction with Adopt-a-Block of Aroostook, collects medications from residents from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in order to prevent them from potentially being misused or abused. Drop-offs are anonymous and free of charge to the public. In addition to medications, there will also be a “Sharps Kiosk” for the depositing of sharps and needles.
