Supreme Court orders revival of PSM oxygen plant The Supreme Court was informed on Wednesday that the federal government was seriously considering reviving the dormant oxygen generation plant of Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) that could meet the oxygen needs of the entire country in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, but an amount of about Rs1 billion was needed to make the plant functional. The French-made PSM’s oxygen plant that is 30 to 40 years old could be made functional subject to availability of necessary equipment and parts, Additional Attorney General (AAG) Sohail Mahmood told a three-judge SC bench that had taken up a suo motu case relating to the preventive measures taken by the federal and provincial governments to curb the spike in coronavirus cases.

ZAMRA, ZMMSA deny exposing citizens to substandard medical supplies – Zambia: News Diggers!

THE Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority (ZAMRA) and Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZMMSA) have denied exposing citizens to substandard medicines and medical supplies through failure to perform their statutory duties. ZAMRA and ZMMSA have further denied the claims by Chapter One Foundation Limited that they failed or neglected to ensure that the public was provided with accurate description of all recalled substandard medicines and medical supplies procured from Honeybee Pharmaceuticals. ZMMSA has argued that the said information was provided to the entities which required to be notified by law.. ZAMRA asks High Court to dismiss Honeybee s claim – Zambia: News Diggers!

THE Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority (ZAMRA) has asked the Lusaka High Court to dismiss a matter in which Honeybee Pharmacy Limited has sued it, seeking an order to forbid it from revoking its Phamaceutical Licence. ZAMRA wants the said matter dismissed with costs, arguing that the action is an abuse of court process. The authority has further agued that Honeybee Pharmacy Limited has no locus standi in relation to the Phamaceutical Licence as the same was not granted to “Honeybee Pharmacy Limited” but to “Honeybee Pharmacy”. This is a matter in which Honeybee Pharmacy Limited has sued ZAMRA seeking an order to forbid the authority from revoking its license.
