As India gears up for the world s largest vaccination programme, the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) on Sunday quelled rumours surrounding the COVID-19 vaccines regarding impotency, rubbishing such speculations as "complete nonsense".
On Sunday, 3 January, the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) granted permission to Bharat Biotech’s indigenous COVID vaccine ‘Covaxin’ and Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine for restricted use in emergency situation.

India has approved two COVID-19 vaccines Serum Institute of India s Covishield and Bharat Biotech s Covaxin for emergency restricted use, regulatory body DCGI said on Sunday. Both vaccines have to be administered in two doses, and have to be stored at 2-8° C.
An expert panel of India s central drug authority on Saturday recommended granting permission for restricted emergency use of the indigenously developed COVID-19 vaccine Covaxin with certain conditions, a day after giving similar direction for the Oxford COVID-19 vaccine, sources said.
