Mid-Cape Home Centers Stevenson named Person of the Year

Jack Stevenson, president of Mid-Cape Home Centers, has been chosen as his industry s Person of the Year in honor of his significant contributions to the lumber and building materials industry and the local community.
For Jack, life in the industry began like so many others: in the family lumber yard. His father bought a small yard in Bayfield, Wisconsin when Jack was just 12. Only a couple of years later, Jack started working there loading and unloading trucks by hand. “No forklift,” he notes. “All my life it has been lumber, lumber, lumber.”
FALL RIVER - Azoreans around the world will elect from May 20 to 24 their 19 representatives to the newly created Azorean Diaspora Council, a consultative body chaired by the President of the Regional Government of Azores that aims to ensure the participation, collaboration and consultation of all those who wish to contribute to the Azores development project.
This body will be responsible, among other matters, for issuing opinions on legislation, programs or measures developed by the Regional Government related to Azorean emigration and Diaspora, as well as contributing to the definition and coordination of policies to strengthen relations between the Diaspora and the Region.

YOUNGSTOWN For the first time in 17 months, graduates at Mercy College of Ohio’s Youngstown location were able to attend an in-person commencement ceremony Monday.
During the ceremony, the Misericordia et Cura Award, the highest honor bestowed by the college, was presented to Kim Pavel, associate program director for the Associate of Applied Science in Nursing Program, Youngstown location.
Pavel began her nursing career at St. Elizabeth Hospital 40 years ago, serving as a staff nurse, a unit manager and a nursing faculty member at both the former St. Elizabeth School of Nursing and most recently at Mercy College of Ohio. She received her diploma in nursing from St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Youngstown State University and her Master of Science in Nursing from Kent State University.
