Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) has received $2 million in funding from the state of Pennsylvania for a project to construct an aircraft parking apron that would be capable of accommodating up to eight planes. The $31.9 million project is expected to be complete in June 2022.
“The addition of this aircraft parking apron provides more space for aircraft to park at PHL in lieu of the parking positions at the terminals,” said Philadelphia Airport’s Chief Operating Officer, Keith Brune. “This allows for the more efficient use of the terminal gates, which in turn helps airline operations to run smoother.”

Money flowing to improve FDR Park
The largest park in South Philly is receiving major contributions to enhance and beautify the area.
FDR Park at Broad Street and Pattison Avenue received $4.5 million in funding for the latest implementation of the FDR Park Master Plan, the Gateway Project.
“Families in South Philadelphia know and rely upon the fresh air and green space at FDR Park,” said City Councilmember Kenyatta Johnson, whose district includes FDR Park. “From family gatherings, to celebrations in the Boathouse or marathon training along the loop road, FDR has something for everyone. Thanks to the new funding announced today, FDR will be on the path to providing visitors 21st century park amenities in a majestic natural setting.”
BELLEFONTE The much-anticipated development of the Bellefonte Waterfront, with plans for a hotel, parking garage and condominium have been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Developers told The Centre County Gazette they hope to get things moving forward again soon, but may have to shift gears a little.
“It is definitely still going to happen, it is just a matter of timing,” said Tom Songer III, commercial real estate representative for the project.
Before the pandemic struck, plans were to start construction in the spring or summer of 2020, with hopes to open the hotel and parking garage in the summer of 2021, and the condominium in 2022. Then, things stalled as the whole world shut down last spring.
