The sheriff’s office launched an official search with the assistance of search and rescue groups from Skagit and other counties at 7 a.m. on Sunday.

Search and rescue crews in the Cascades are looking for a 66-year-old hiker who was expected to return home Saturday night.
SKAGIT COUNTY, Wash. - Search and rescue crews were back in the mountains of Skagit County Monday morning to search for a missing hiker who never made it home from Hidden Lake Trail.
According to the Skagit County Sheriff s Office, deputies were notified about 8:30 p.m. Saturday that 66-year-old Thomas Simonseth of Mount Vernon had not returned from the day hike.

Thomas Simonseth, 66, of Mount Vernon planned to hike the Hidden Lake Trail on Saturday but didn’t return home by 7 p.m. when he was expected, according to the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office.
Friends with mountaineering experience hiked in the area to search for him but weren’t able to find him, according to the sheriff’s office. They spent the night in the area hoping to continue their search in the morning.

Halton police have said that 56-year-old Krystyna (Emilia) Rerak and her husband, 56-year-old Andrzej (Andrew) Rerak, were both found deceased following the blaze at their home on Hidden Lake Trail in the early hours of Feb. 17. Police have said that they believe the circumstances surrounding their death are suspicious, though few other details have been released so far. It was not clear from that video whether the occupants of the vehicle saw that individual prior to the garage door closing behind them.
