After a tumultuous 2020, governmental officials look forward to the end of Covid-19 and are taking an optimistic look at the new year with anticipation the country will both prosper economically and connect again socially once inoculations produce herd immunity. “I am looking forward to the community reconnecting — family, friends, all the people who have not been able to gather,” Clarksville Mayor Ann Rushing said about 2021. “As you know, city government never stops. We have been very, very busy, and we look forward to many accomplishments in the New Year.” Mayors in both Paris and Honey Grove, as well as the superintendents of the largest and smallest school districts in Lamar County, also looked forward to life in a new and hopefully improved normalcy.

Big Sky man accused of ramming boss s truck, fleeing from police

A Big Sky man is accused of ramming into his boss’s truck before leading police on a high-speed chase down U.S. Highway 191 earlier this week. Dylan Klapak, 28, is charged with felony criminal mischief. He appeared in Gallatin County Justice Court before acting judge Miranda Johnson who set his bail at $25,000. On Monday, multiple witnesses reported neighbors “playing bumper cars” on Hidden Valley Road. They reported a driver rammed his car into a parked car at a neighbor’s house and yelled, “I’m going to kill you,” before he drove away, court documents say. Pieces from the car’s bumper were left at the home.

Lawyers: Shamsher Kothari (defence), Shane Parker (Crown). Adrienne McColl, 21, was last seen on Valentine s Day 2002. Sixteen years later, her boyfriend, Stéphane Parent. who had been living in Quebec, was arrested and charged with her murder. McColl s body was discovered in a rancher s field near Nanton, south of Calgary, three days after she disappeared. Friends of the victim have told CBC News that Parent and McColl were romantically involved at the time of her death but had a volatile relationship. Parent, who was a person of interest at the time of McColl s death, bought a one-way ticket to Ottawa days after McColl s body was found.
