Two Arrested In Saugus On Slew Of Felony Charges After Routine Traffic Stop
A wanted suspect and his passenger were taken into custody Wednesday in Saugus after stolen identification cards and drugs were allegedly found in the vehicle they were driving, which they were not authorized to use.
Around 9 p.m. Wednesday, deputies were patrolling Saugus when they observed a vehicle with expired registration on the 26400 block of Bouquet Canyon Road in Saugus, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Deputies conducted a traffic stop to inform the occupants of the vehicle of the code violation, according to Arriaga.
The Los Angeles County Coroner-Medical Examiner’s Office identified Carlos Salgado-Ruiz, 35, of Santa Clarita, as the pedestrian killed after being struck by a vehicle in Saugus Wednesday night.
Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel first responded to reports of a traffic collision with a pedestrian involved just after 10 p.m. on Seco Canyon Road, near the intersection of Bouquet Canyon Road, according to spokesman Jon Matheny.
Salgado-Ruiz was pronounced dead at the scene minutes later, according to Sarah Ardalani, a spokeswoman with the coroner’s office.
No arrest was made and the investigation remains ongoing, according to Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station spokeswoman Deputy Natalie Arriaga.
One person, later identified as Salgado-Ruiz, was killed as a result of the collision, according to Ardalani.
Traffic was blocked in both directions on Seco Canyon Rd. in the area for several hours as first responders worked to clear the scene.
The exact circumstances leading up to the Saugus crash were not immediately known as of Thursday morning.

Saugus Power Outage Impacts Over 2,400
Over 2,400 customers with Southern California Edison (SCE) lost power Wednesday evening as a result of a Saugus power outage.
At around 6:30 p.m. Monday, residents in the portion of Saugus west of Bouquet Canyon Road began to report a loss of power near Benz Road.
At 6:45 p.m. Monday, SCE officials confirmed that they had received reports of the Saugus power outage, disclosing that an estimated 2,413 of their customers were impacted as a result.
While no cause for the outage had been determined as of 7 p.m., SCE officials say that power should be restored to most individuals by 7:15 p.m. Wednesday.
Canyon Country Man Faces Multiple Felonies After Pulling BB Gun On Tow Truck Driver
A Canyon Country man was arrested Monday morning on a slew of charges after he pulled a BB gun on a tow truck driver who was repossessing the suspect’s vehicle.
On Monday around 8 a.m., a man was trying to repossess a vehicle in the 27000 block of Bouquet Canyon Road in Saugus, said Sgt. Joel Nebel, with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Detective’s Bureau.
“The man pulled a BB gun that looked like a Glock handgun, pointed it at the tow man and threatened to shoot him,” Nebel said.
