MUST Sets May 18 As New Date For Second Graduation

Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) has set 18th May, 2021 as the new date for its second graduation ceremony. In a statement, the university’s management says the graduation ceremony will be held virtually, and that on selected students from selected programmes will be allowed to attend the ceremony physically. The press statement further says the graduation will be preceded by installation of State President, Lazarus Chakwera as Chancellor of MUST. MUST was supposed to conduct its graduation ceremony some two months ago, but the event was postponed due to increase in the numbers of Covid 19 transmission. (Visited 44 times, 1 visits today)

Health expert hails MUST for efforts in finding COVID-19 solutions

A health expert, George Jobe, has applauded the Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) for gearing up its research towards finding solutions to the Coronavirus pandemic. Jobe made the commendation following an announcement by MUST that it had entered into a partnership with John Hopkins University and other international research institutions to study COVID-19 and see if they could develop a vaccine. Jobe: An accomplished health expert Said Jobe: “This is quite encouraging. It is what we want and what we have been looking forward as a country. It means if we are successful we would as a country be helping other countries.”

Poet Robert Chiwamba Pays Tribute to Bingu In Mbiri Safuta

Mbiri safuta” a tribute to late State President Prof. Bingu wa Mutharika. In an interview on Thursday in Mzuzu, he said he released the poem because of the good work the late President did to the country during his era. The Poet recites that no one can erase what Mutharika did for the country during his tenure including farm input subsidy programme which ended hunger in his first year of office. “You cannot erase history of our late President Bingu wa Mutharika. Even if you close your eyes you will still see his vision and what he did for the country.

ESCOM powers 25 engineering students with scholarships

April 29, 2021 Peter Kanjere, ESCOM PRO 1 Comment “If you leave behind a good section of society such as women then you cannot develop.” The Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) Limited has awarded scholarships worth K10 million to 25 outstanding female electrical engineering students from the Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) and The Malawi Polytechnic. The handover ceremony of the scholarships to 16 students from MUST and nine from The Polytechnic took place at Escom Mpemba Training Centre in Blantyre on Tuesday, 27th April 2021. MUST received K6,100, 000 whereas The Poly got K4,050,000 to cater for the students fees. Eventually, the schools and Escom officials signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cement their relationship.

Mulanje radio innovator gets scholarship at Malawi University of Science and Tech

Kondesi gets scholarship Gabriel Kondesi, got arrested in 2008 when he was just 13 for creating and operating a radio station in Mulanje. He has made it into a first cohort of  beneficiaries of MUST Community Innovator Programme. The Malawi University of Science and Technology, through MUST Institute of Industrial Research and Innovation, is introducing a programme where’s by it will be admitting community innovators, mentor them in a local language they understand, just to add academic value to their God-given-talents.
