Sabah recorded a whopping 6,027 positive cases in just two weeks from Jan 7 to 20, bringing the cumulative tally to 45,409 cases to date, said Sabah’s Covid-19 Spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun (pic).
He added as of Thursday there were 23 red zone districts, while three are in the yellow zone and one in the orange zone.
“In addition, there is also an increase in new cases and clusters in Sabah, which is also a result of close contact screenings” said Masidi in a statement, Thursday.
As such, he said the State Government has agreed to extend the current Movement Control Order (MCO) until Feb. 4, following the advice and risk evaluation by the Malaysian Health Ministry (MOH)
Sabah has recorded a total of 36,074 positive Covid-19 cases as of Sunday (Dec 27), said Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.
“The Malaysian Health Ministry (MOH) has affirmed that the daily Covid-19 cases in the State are still high and show an upward trend. On the advice of MOH, the State Government has agreed that the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) Statewide will be extended, starting Jan 1 until Jan 14, 2021,” he said in a statement, Monday.
Sabah recorded 157 new Covid-19 cases on Monday, with Kota Kinabalu topping the list with 46 cases, followed by Penampang with 28 cases.
Masidi, who is Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson, said 503 per cent (79 cases) were from close contacts, while 31.8 per cent (50 cases) were from symptomatic screenings.
“17 cases (10.8 per cent) are from the existing clusters Statewide,” he said, adding the remaining cases were from other categories

KUNAK: The weekly Kunak Tamu (farmer’s market) is set to reopen after the local authority (PBT) seeks advice from the Malaysian Health Ministry (MOH) on the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to be imposed.

Kunak District Council Executive Officer (MDKNK) Mohd Shoffian Mohd Said said obtaining advice on the SOPs and efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19 transmission is important for the well-being and health of the community as a whole.
“We will hold a meeting with the District PKOB Chairman (Disaster Operations Control Centre), including the MOH and other agencies before deciding to reopen the tamu here,” he said when contacted by Daily Express.

Man imprisoned for attempting to overthrow people’s administration

The People’s Court of north-central Nghe An province on December 15 sentenced Tran Duc Thach to 12 years in prison for “attempting to overthrow the people’s administration”.
Thach, 68, from the province’s Dien Chau district, will be subject to a probationary period of three years upon his release. He was previously sentenced to three years behind bars on charges of “conducting propaganda against the Socialist Republic of Vietnam”.
