EXTERNAL trade has continued to improve in November 2020, seeing a year-on-year increase of 4.3% to RM84.43bil compared to the corresponding period last year, thanks to higher exports to the United States, Singapore, China and Hong Kong.
Moreover, Malaysia recorded a total of RM109.8bil approved investments involving 2,935 projects in the manufacturing, services and primary sectors for the first nine months of this year, with the bulk 59.5% (RM65.3bil) coming from the manufacturing sector, followed by services at 39% (RM42.8bil) and the primary sector at 1.5% (RM1.7bil).
Mida deputy chief executive officer II Ahmad Khairuddin Abdul Rahim, who witnessed the signing ceremony, said Panasonic’s presence in Malaysia is the prime example of how business and technology evolve as the company has been continuously making necessary adjustments to reskill its talent and shift towards automation and robotics.
PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Investment Development Authority (Mida) has helped to foster the cooperation between Panasonic Appliances Air-conditioning Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PAPAMY) and Universiti Malaya (UM) to establish an academic-industrial collaboration.
The two parties recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and will establish a strong framework for strategic collaboration for Masters and PhD research projects, industrial training and job placements, as well as research between UM’s professors, researchers and PAPAMY.
