KUALA LUMPUR: The reinstatement of cabotage policy exemption for submarine cable repair vessels will accelerate Malaysia’s progression towards becoming a digitally-enabled and technology-driven high-income nation by 2030, said the American Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (Amcham). Chief executive officer Siobhan Das said the chamber is ready to support the government in reviewing its legislative and regulatory measures relating to digital infrastructure under the Malaysia Digital Economy Blueprint (MyDIGITAL) initiative, by facilitating substantive industry consultation and proposing solutions that support the realisation of the government’s objectives. “Regulatory barriers that do not support efficient management of digital infrastructure is worrisome for investors at a particularly critical time when Malaysia seeks to compete for digital infrastructure investments and drive economic recovery,” he said in a statement.

KUALA LUMPUR (April 6): Malaysia is currently undertaking concerted efforts to review its existing policies and restructure its investment strategy to ensure that implementation of high-impact projects can be expedited. International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said it is crucial to keep the government investment policies relevant, resilient and responsive to the evolving ecosystem. “I am pleased to share that Malaysia’s ongoing investment promotion efforts have successfully kept us on the map of investors, including Japanese investors. “Guided by this aspiration, the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) is spearheading a holistic reform of Malaysia’s investment agenda,” he said in his welcoming remarks at the online investment forum organised by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) entitled “Malaysia in its Present State” today.
